Is Internet Marketing Evolving To Fast For Your Small Business to Keep Up?

October 30, 2009

question1Online marketing, the use of keyword rich content,  SEO “Search Engine Optimization” and SEM “Search Engine Marketing” strategy has evolved tremendously in just the last few years and many business owners (large and small) and marketing executives do not have a clue that they are lining up to play a game and everyone else has moved to a different field.  Staying on the leading edge of this evolution is going to have  a tremendous impact on your organizations effectiveness to market your products and services to clients and consumers in the future.

Your web presence should not be an online yellow pages ad, but a prospect generating vortex.   You need to know how to leverage social networking, social media marketing, niche marketing and keyword content distribution into contacts and follows.  Then capture those contacts and communicate with them in order to create real connections, prospects and new business for your company.  That is the essence of creating an internet marketing strategy.  Putting effort into your “About Us” page is not going to drive traffic.

My philosophy is not complicated, but it requires a paradigm shift for many businesses as to  how they view the internet as a marketing tool.  An effective internet marketing strategy requires four essential elements that I preach and teach to all of my clients.  They are:

Effective Content

Develop quality content that is search engine optimized utilizing effective and targeted keywords to generate organic traffic.  Develop a core blog to present fresh, relevant and consistent content in order to build trust and authority with search engines and followers.

Strategic Search

Implement the latest SEO tools and SEM strategies to create link energy and traffic for your core website and blog, as well as the effective use of PPC, web advertising and other search driven marketing strategies to create traffic.  Testing, tracking and analytics are a key part of this.

Social Marketing

Maximize visibility by utilizing social networks, automation and social media marketing to build a network of contacts that can be turned into connections and prospects.  Capturing contact information as part of a double opt-in campaign is an essential element to a social strategy.

Effective Communication

Once captured an effective marketing and communications campaign must follow establish an interactive dialogue with each connection to identify potential prospects and customers.  This can be done through targeted niche email, eNewsletters, email automation campaigns, etc.

It takes all four elements to develop an effective internet marketing campaign.  If your business is not utilizing the full power and potential of these tools then you are going to fall behind very quickly.
